At 8:11 a.m. Thursday the VIPD’s Economic Crime Unit executed an arrest warrant on Kenneth L. Springer, a 46-year-old resident of Catherine’s Rest, who turned himself in to police after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.

Springer was charged with obtaining money by false pretense, criminally influenced and corrupt organization, forgery, drawing and delivering worthless documents, grand larceny and fraudulent claim upon the government.

According to police, Springer falsely claimed to be a contractor in March 2007 and allegedly obtained money from three different individuals, totaling over $77,000.

Unable to post $75,000 bail, Springer was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections, pending his advice of rights hearing.
