Police Investigating Assault Near Mandela Circle

A black male was treated Friday night at the Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas for stab wounds received in an attack on Mandela Circle.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at around 11:02 p.m., Friday, the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to Giant Gas, located near Mandela Circle, in reference to an assault victim.

Officers traveled to the area and found a Black male who had sustained an apparent stab wound to the lower back. The victim, whose name was not released in compliance with department policy, was transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injury.

Investigators urged anyone who knows what happened in the incident to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-715-5513, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
