Two Injured in Charlotte Amalie Shooting

Two people were injured by gunshots early Saturday in an incident in downtown Charlotte Amalie, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 1:12 a.m. Dec. 20 the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to the Schneider Regional Medical Center in reference to two gunshot victims.

Police did not release the names of the victims in accordance with department policy.

The victims both told officers that they were in the area of Gamble Gade in downtown Charlotte Amalie when they heard popping sounds, then realized they had been shot. The victims said they had no knowledge of who may have shot them. They each were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police urged anyone who may have any information about the incident to contact police by calling 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5579 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
