Man Dies of Injuries from Motorcycle-Auto Accident

A motorcycle rider involved in an accident Monday on Polyberg Hill died of injuries from he incurred, the V.I. Police Department reported Wednesday.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Uric Smith, Sr. of Oswald Harris Court.

According to the police report, at 4:54 p.m. Monday, the 911 emergency call center received a report of an auto accident on Polyberg Hill involving a motorcycle.

Investigators said a vehicle was turning onto Polyberg Hill when Smith, who was traveling west on the motorcycle, applied brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle. He lost control of the motorcycle, eventually hitting the vehicle.

Smith was transported via ambulance from the scene to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment. He later died of the injuries he sustained.

Police urged anyone with information that can help police close this investigation to call 911 or the Traffic Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211.
