STT Man Succumbs to Gunshot Wounds in Frenchman’s Bay Area

A man died of gunshot wounds Friday in a shooting at Frenchman’s Bay.

The V.I. Police Department reported that the victim was identified as 28-year-old Elon Frett of St. Thomas. It was the 11th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 20th in the territory, according to the Source’s homicide list.*

According to a police report issued Sunday morning, at about 7:54 p.m. Friday the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired in Frenchman’s Bay.

Arriving at the scene, officers found an unresponsive male later identified as Frett. He appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Emergency medical technicians concluded that he did not have any vital signs.

Police urged anyone with information about the shooting to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5569 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222- 8477. Tips to Crime Stoppers that result in the resolution of a crime can qualify the caller for an anonymous cash reward.

*The Source homicide list is based on police reports, but unlike the VIPD list and the list of some other media, the Source list does not include suicides or vehicular homicides, which can lead to a variance in the number of incidents reported.
