Man Arrested on Warrant for Robbery

A St. Thomas man was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with a robbery the occurred to March 6, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 2:50 p.m. Thursday officers arrested 24-year-old Dante Tonge of Contant Knolls on a warrant issued by the Superior Court, charging him with first-degree robbery.

The police news release said Tonge was identified as one of two men who robbed a victim at gunpoint outside La Delicia in Contant on March 6. Bail for Tonge was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.

This incident is under investigation. Police urged anyone with information about the crime to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9801, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers
