V.I. Police Officer Yomont King pleaded guilty Thursday in federal district court on St. Thomas to two counts of bank fraud, U.S. Attorney Gretchen Shappert announced.

According to court documents filed in the case, on multiple occasions in 2018 King deposited stolen and forged checks totaling $2,800 into his personal bank account.

King will be sentenced at a later date, Shappert said.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Virgin Islands Police Department Economic Crimes Unit. It was being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan Brooks.
