The Rochelle High School Class of 1966 of Lakeland, Florida organized the community to collect hurricane supplies after the news of the two horrific hurricanes, Irma and Maria. The Class spearheaded organizing the community because their classmate, Annie Day Henry, lives on St. Croix; Class President, Audrey Figgs said. The donations came from churches, classmates, adult daycare and other organizations.
Annie Day Henry accepted the supplies with gratitude; which consist of water, can foods, adult pampers, clothing, toiletries, adults and children’s wipes, hygienic supplies, beauty supplies, sanitary supplies, toothbrushes and paste, and many more needed supplies. As a member of the American Legion Post 102, Annie ask the post to assist with the disbursement.
On Sunday, July 21, 2019, the Enrique Romero Nieves Post 102 of the American Legion of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, disburse the supplies to Herbert Grigg Complex for the Aged representative, Ana Velez-Martinez and The Women Coalition representative, Clema Lewis. The Catholic Charity representative was not present.
Annie said on behalf of the community of St. Croix she is appreciative of the love expressed by her classmates and home town, Lakeland, Florida.
