Otto Andreas James

Otto Andreas James of Frederiksted died on Tuesday, June 5. He was 81 years old.

He was predeceased by niece, Claudia James-Hessing; nephew, Darnay Rayson; great nephew, Zion James; and cousin, Ruby Urgent.

He is survived by his children: Odetta James-Simmons (Ga.), Samantha James-Holliday (Ga.), Otto A. James Jr. (Fla.), Deron A. James (N.Y.), Jason James (Penn.); grandchildren: Ebony James, Tiffany Nicole Noelani Batista, Jontrelle James, Miranda Holliday, Markell Holliday, Kai Andreas James, Derryn James and Arianix Zoe James; great-grandchild, Keanu Kalani James; nieces: Faye Abdullah-Boschulte (Minn.), Erna James-Lynch (St. Thomas), Magnolia Fitzgerald, Grete James-Garcia, Laurel James-Hecker, Jennifer Njoya (Cameroon), Valarie James, Renee Powell-Matta (Minn.), Rudine Powell-Williams (Minn.), and Gertrude James-Allen (Ga.), Esther James, Anna James, Juliet James, Judith James (S.C.) and Sherlene James-Jones (N.J.); and nephews: Arthur C. “Butchie” Petersen Jr., Winfield James (Ga.), Gustav “Jim” James, Kevin James, Wayne James, Carl Michael James, Ivan B. James Jr. (Fla.), Ivan Gateword “Canito” James (Fla.), Ralph James, Elmo James, Anthony James, Taj James, Ivan I. James, Kai Otto James (Fla.), Ricardo Doward, Hugh James (Minn.), Halvor James (Okla.), and Olando James (Calif.).

He is also survived by great nieces: Robin Boschulte (Minn.), Josephine Urgent, Ruby Urgent, Kim Urgent, Amandi C.V. Petersen, Desiree James, Ryneese James, Tamaura Evans, London James, Chantel James, Savannah A. James, Soujourn James, Yukia James, Nichole James, Rainia Thomas, Shainia Thomas-Jarvis, Reanell Thomas-Vallarde, Shamara Payne-Richards, Melanie Allen, Jaynae Edney, Tinejah Hannah-Prospero, Kheya James, Shayna Jones, Briana Jones, Indica Doward, Luanda Garcia, Sharifa Garcia, Vinya Lynch Agbor, Tracy Lynch Bhola, Layla Hecker-Thompson, Dominique James, Kennedy James, Oceana James, Michaela James, Ciera James, Ashanti James, Aaliyah James, Stenee Matta, Erica Williams, Elise Williams, Eriel Williams, Mandella Williams, Tamika James, Malika James, Zalika James, Joy James, Annelys Hessing, Alyssa Hessing, Maritza James, Isabella Allen and Michelle James.

James, Mylon Allen, Elmer “Brinx” James, Jaynae Edney, Kahiem Hannah, Tristian Hannah, Hanife James, Kai Otto James Jr., Karlton S. James, William D. James, Matthew D. James, Khalfani Garcia, Gustavo Garcia, Kwame Garcia Jr., Cambridge James, Nkosi James, Jelani James, Nassor James, Chinua John-Baptiste, Faisal Umaru, Nile James, Khalil James, Carl M. James Jr., Ivan I. James Jr., Jamez Powell, Joshua Powell, Johnathan Powell, Jeremy Matta, Ethan Williams, Ean Williams, Lateef James, Kaleaf James, Jahkil James, Joshua James, Reiner Hessing, Mark James and Ajani James.

And more survivors include sisters-in-law: Evelyn Messer-James, Eunella James (Calif.) and Iris James; special cousins: Henrietta Hogan (N.J.), Jean Edney-Canton, Genevieve Edney, Claudia Edney-Merrick Dorothy Urgent-Jensen (Fla.), Maria James-Concepcion (P.R.), Perfecta James (P.R.), Ana James (P.R.), William “Willie” James (P.R.), Arthur “Scorge” Urgent, Beverly Urgent, Allan Urgent and Arthur Urgent Jr (S.C.); special friends and family: Annette Cotton (N.Y.), Nayme Romero, Evelyn Hogan (N.Y.), Eric “Larry” Bough, Charles Farrell, Wilfred “Junnie Bomba” Allick, Lloyd “Pedico” Thomas, the Messer family, Urgent family (St. Croix), and the John, Edney, Urgent, McBean, Encarnacion and Messer families (St. Croix), and the Osborne, Tuitt, Rymer, White, Allen, Daley, Hogan and Farrell families (Monserrat); as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 18, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Frederiksted Cemetery.
