Summer Math Challenge Open to Students Completing Grade 8

The Virgin Islands Department of Education Office of Curriculum and Instruction encourages parents of students who have completed grades 1-8 during the 2017-18 school year to take advantage of the Summer Math Challenge, which is a free online math skills maintenance program based on grade-level standards that helps prepare students for college and careers.

The Summer Math Challenge runs Monday, June 18 through Friday, July 27, and’ it is hosted by MetaMetrics, an educational research group. As part of the program, parents receive daily emails with fun activities and links to educational resources.

To sign up, visit www.Quantiles.com/summer-math .
The six-week program is designed to help students retain math skills learned during the previous school year. Research shows that on average, students lose approximately 2.6 months of grade-level equivalency in math over the summer months.

Students attending the territory’s public, private and parochial schools may participate in the Summer Math Challenge.
