Christiansted Shooting Injures Three

Three men were injured Thursday evening when shots were fired in downtown Christiansted, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, officers were dispatched at 9:28 p.m. to a report of multiple gunshots fired in the vicinity of Bienvenidos Grocery Store on Company Street.

At the scene, the officers found a small crowd surrounding an unknown adult male who was lying on the ground. They also found a second victim lying on his back – and another patrol unit, traveling on Princess Street, saw a third unknown male individual walking across the street. He stopped the officers and said he had just been shot. The officers then placed the victim in their car and notified 911 they were on the way to the hospital.

The other two victims were taken by ambulance to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment.

Police urged anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340 712-6092, the St. Croix Chief’s Office at 340 712 6004, 911, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers VI, at 1-800-222-8477.
