A shooting Monday evening at the David Hamilton Jackson Housing Community in Christiansted sent one man to the emergency room, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 6:05 p.m. the 911 emergency call center received a report of two people fighting and shooting at each other at the housing community. Then at roughly 6:23 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a report from the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital’s emergency room that a shooting victim had arrived seeking treatment.

Officers and detectives responded and interviewed the victim, a resident of Estate Morning Star. He told officers that he was walking back from the beach area near the David Hamilton Jackson Housing Community when he heard shots firing. He said he began to run and then realized that he had been shot.

He told officers that he had no idea who had shot him. The victim said he was transported to JFL by an unknown individual.
