Tourism Takes to National Airwaves with Ads

The V.I. Tourism Department will kick off the new year with a strategic advertising campaign in January aimed at ensuring that the territory remains “top of mind” after the holiday season, the department announced in a Monday press release.

For the first three weeks in January, television commercials featuring St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas will air on CNN, CNN Headline News, the Food Network and the Travel Channel.

Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty announced Tourism has committed approximately $350,000 for the campaign, which will promote the territory’s vacation offerings.

"As we move into a new year and welcome a new administration, it is vitally important that we sustain our marketing momentum," Nicholson-Doty said, thanking all stakeholders for their efforts to make 2014 a successful year for the tourism sector.

Nicholson-Doty said a tourism transition plan has been thoroughly delineated for the new administration, and this media buy will help give the territory a platform upon which to build in 2015.
