Robert John Dies at 92

Robert John Robert John of John F. Kennedy Housing Community died on Aug. 3. He was 92 years old.
He is survived by his daughters: Veronica Richards, Jeanmarie Ramsey-Murrain and Monica Jacobs; son, Bertram (Bert) John; grandchildren: Denise Woolfork, Abdonie Gumbs, Doreen Carr, Alexander and Andre Gumbs, Donna Beckles, Bertha, Shamon, Tyree and Tyriesha John, Sandy Parris, Shamoi Murrain and Theshia Nieves; 32 great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Iotha King; sons-in-law: Roy Richards, Bazil Murrain and Bernard Jacobs; sister, Gwendolyn Saddler (St. Kitts); and nieces: Sheila (Ursulla) Thomas, Unetta (Curlita) Brown, Icilma Harrigan, Valerie Price-Jones, Vanessa Price-Davis, Sandra Price-Blyden, Rosemarie Rhodes, Dawn John-Shell, Barbara John, Yasmin John-Smith, Karen John-Knowles, Carleen and Karen John, Erla Alleyne, Lucia Williams and Estella Williams.
He is also survived by nephews: Barrymore and Bernard Galloway, Christopher, Delvin, Emile, Whitfield, Steve, Samuel and Vere John, Austin Martin, Jonathan, Franklyn, Steven, Nigel and Theodore Howard, Veron Dowdy, Shawn and Lestroy Price, and Calvert Baltimore; brothers-in-law: Randolph Saddler and Sylvester Price; and nieces and nephews-in-law: Verna Lake, Hilare Hosier, Foster Lynch, Arthur Thomas, Elaine Baptiste, Elroy, Samuel Baptiste, Baldwin, Carlisle, Lornette, Sherleen and Marion Kirby.
Other survivors include cousins and family friends: Miles Joseph, Grethel Richards, Robin and Arthur Yearwood, Joan Kirby, Margarita Encarnacion and family, Eva Davis and family, Cheryl Burton and family, Charles and Sandra Cornelius, Alexander Gumbs Sr. and family, Angel Nieves and family, Melvin Hanley and family, Ruth Sexius and family, Charles Anthony and family, Camille Larsen, Axelina Plaskett, Patricia Browne, Vincent James, Ruby Dunlop, Jean Kelly, St. John’s Church family, Dr. Raymond Cintron, Josette Matthew, Veronica Rodriguez, Lisa Santiago, Shama Abbott-Williams and the staff of La Paz, and the John F. Kennedy Housing family; as well as other friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the St. John’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at St. John’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.
