Police on St. John are investigating several recent residential burglaries and urging residents to secure their homes.
Police said the investigation into the burglaries indicates that one person may be responsible for the break-ins.
According to the police reports, the suspect burglarized homes, searcing for cash, while the people who lived there were asleep. In one instance, police said, a man awoke and was robbed at knifepoint of his cash.
Two other people in the home were awakened by the victim’s cries for help and were threatened by the suspect before he left the area.
St. John Deputy Chief Darren Foy asks residents to properly secure their homes.
“We want to make sure residents on St. John lock and secure their doors, windows and other places where a criminal can gain access," Foy said. "It’s an unfortunate situation that these incidents happened, but we want to make sure everyone is aware and focused on their safety.”
