The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs reminds all license holders of their responsibility to notify the department in writing within 30 days when a license is to be canceled or placed in an inactive status. If notification is not given to the department, the licensee will accrue penalties at 10 percent of the total license fee each month. This information is clearly stated on each license. Licensees should also note that the period to remain on inactive status expires after one year. If the status of the license is not changed from inactive to active within that year, it will be required for the license holder to go through the entire application renewal process.
“Our goal at DLCA is to continue to provide information on the existing policies to every entity or individual conducting commerce. Our information campaign is part of the mission of the department to ensure that all businesses and individuals comply with the licensing laws of the Virgin Islands through education, regulation and enforcement. It is our hope that license holders will utilize the information that we provide to avoid any penalties or enforcement action,” said Commissioner Wayne Biggs.
