SAVOR Offers Fine Art and Fine Food on Thursday Evening

May 7, 2009 – Support Art & Value Our Restaurants (SAVOR) will present its second collaboration between fine restaurants and fine art galleries on the evening of May 7. While viewing art at one of the participating galleries, simply pick up a coupon for special offers at the partner restaurant. The teams are trying to make this a first Thursday of the month event.
Downtown Gallery St, Thomas presents new work by Livy Hitchcock, one of the Virgin Island's premier portrait artists. Hervé Restaurant and Wine Bar will provide a sampling of appetizers, as well as a discount on their fine cuisine with a Caribbean flair.
Also downtown, David Hill Gallery in Royal Dane Mall, the classically trained artist offers an array of his oils and traditional etchings. A coupon from Hill's gallery will yield a complementary glass of wine with tapas or an entrée at Amalie Café, famous for authentic Spanish cuisine. The restaurant is located in Palm Passage.
At Yacht Haven Grande, Mango Tango Seaside Art Gallery gives viewers a preview of Shari Erickson's upcoming show. Ambassador Terence Todman, born on St. Thomas, chose her work for the U.S. Embassy in Guinea, as a reflection of the best of the islands. With the gallery's voucher, a complementary glass of wine with an entree awaits at Grand Cru and Wine Bar.
On Raphune Hill, Mango Tango Hillside Art Gallery displays works of many of the gallery's artists, with the highlight being a grand selection of Haitian art. The band 2 Blue Shoes will add to the evening's festivities. An art slip from the gallery grants a 50 per cent discount on appetizers at Randy's Bar and Bistro.
The two downtown galleries will be open until 8 p.m. and the two Mango Tango venues will stay open until 9 p.m. Visit each participating gallery or choose one.
