May 22, 2007 – The University of the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration will present their 'Annual Small Business Awards.' The event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., on Thursday, May 24, at the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. The networking reception will be held at SBDC, 2nd floor, Suite 720, Nisky Center Office.
UVI Small Business Development Center Award Recipients: Small Business Entrepreneur Award: Miniature Golf and Amusement; Home Based Business of the Year Award: Caribbean Specialty Foods; Principals: Floyd Douglas Ackley and Rachel Ackley; Financial Services Advocate of the Year Award: FirstBank Virgin Islands.
U.S. Small Business Administration Award Recipients: Person of the Year, St Thomas; Howard It Janis French; Caribbean Inflatable Boat and Life Raft; SBA Bank of the Year Gold Award; Banco Popular De Puerto Rico; SBA Bank of the Year Platinum Award; and Business Loan Center.
