Public is Invited to Weigh in on Health Insurance Bill

Feb. 27, 2006 – The public is invited to a town meeting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, sponsored by Sen. Craig Barshinger. The meeting, which will take place at the Palms Court Harbourview Hotel on St. Thomas, is being held to inform the public of Bill No. 26-0194, which seeks to provide mandatory health insurance for all employees in the Virgin Islands.
Several panelists, Sen. Barshinger and other members of the Senate Health, Hospital & Human Services Committee will be on hand to provide answers to questions raised by the public.
"The Legislature's proceedings tend to be formal and stiff," Barshinger said. "Because of the monumental nature of this bill, we must explain the intent of the legislation and give the public an opportunity to convey their feelings and opinions on this issue of mandatory health insurance."
For more information, call the Office of Sen. Craig Barshinger at 693-3546.
