Sept. 24, 2004 – Gov. Charles W. Turnbull nominated Roger Minkoff to the Real Estate Commission of the Virgin Islands. If confirmed, he will serve a term of four years.
A St. Thomas resident, Minkoff is the broker and manager of Minkoff & Associates, Realtors. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor of science degree. Minkoff joined the New Jersey Police Department and went on to serve the V. I. Police Department as Director of the Special Intelligence Unit participating in undercover operations.
Since that time, Minkoff graduated from the Realtors Institute, founded, published and edited the Real Estate and Home Owner's Guide, and is a certified instructor for real estate training classes. He is also a certified international property specialist and is presently preparing real estate information for textbooks for the University of Denver and Daniels College of Business.
Minkoff is a member of the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce and has also been involved in several community organizations in the territory, including chief rescue liaison and instructor for St Croix Rescue, and VITEMA Emergency Services Coordinator/Rescue for Hurricanes Hugo, Marilyn and Bertha. He is a retired medical advisor and first aid instructor for the St. Croix Boy Scouts of America Troop 155.
According to a government press release, in nominating Minkoff, Turnbull asked the advice and consent of the Legislature and said that its prompt and favorable confirmation will allow the commission to continue to meet its busy agenda without interruption.
