BIR OFFERS SATURDAY, MONDAY TAX-RETURN HELP

April 11, 2003 – The Internal Revenue Bureau office on St. John will be open on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
Office personnel will help taxpayers fill out their 2002 income-tax returns on Saturday and Monday as well as accept tax returns and payments by check or cash. On Tuesday, the April 15 deadline for filing, the staff will only accept tax returns and payments.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. The office is in the Motor Vehicle Department trailer next to the public tennis courts in Cruz Bay.
Louis Willis, IRB director, said in a release announcing the hours that it is his responsibility "to continue to make it easier for taxpayers to voluntarily comply with the tax laws of the Virgin Islands."
