Police on St. Thomas are seeking the community’s help in identifying a man found shot to death in the vicinity of Coral World.
The body was discovered about 6 a.m. Thursday, according to the V.I. Police Department. Emergency 911 dispatchers alerted officers of an unresponsive man found in a car in Smith Bay. It was the 12th homicide in the territory since the start of 2013, the seventh on St. Thomas.
Police arrived on the scene and saw the victim in the driver’s seat of a red four-door Pontiac Grand Am. The victim was described as being about 40 to 45 years old with a dark complexion, standing about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, slim with a low hair cut and a thin beard. He was wearing blue jeans and a white, long-sleeved shirt. He was wearing a wristband from Tootsie’s Gentleman’s Club.
Police believe the victim was driving when he was shot multiple times by unknown suspects. Police do not have an identity on the deceased male and are asking the community’s assistance in identifying the victim.
Detectives of the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the case.
