The Virgin Islands Olympic Committee Hosts Two Events

The Virgin Islands Olympic Committee (VIOC) will host two events in honor of Olympic Day, a worldwide observance of the Olympic movement. The first event will be the Olympic Day Run, which will be a one-mile race held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, at the St. Croix Educational Complex track. The event is open to all ages and levels of participants, including walkers. Pre-race entry forms may be picked up at Stamina Sports, located in the Bingo Building in Orange Grove, or found online at virginislandspace.org. All finishers will receive an official Olympic day T-shirt.
The second event will be a presentation of the member federations that comprise the V.I. Olympic Committee. Each of these 21 groups will give an update on the state of their sport in the territory and unveil their plans for their top, elite athletes who plan on competing in the upcoming Pan-American and Olympic Games.
This event will be held between 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Amphitheater at the Sunny Isle Shopping Center. The public is invited to attend to show their support of the territory’s outstanding athletes.
