March 13, 2009 – The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority is advising its St. Croix customers that it continues to have technical problems with its telephone network as a result of the recent temporary move of its headquarters to the Innovative Building in Estate Diamond.
Daytime customer service calls have been re-routed through the St. Thomas switchboard until further notice; however, in order to better assist customers with water or power emergencies between 11 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., St. Croix customers can call WAPA's emergency line at 773-2250 or 774-3552 and press the number "4" for the Line Department.
St. Thomas phone attendants will take the caller's name, location and telephone number and make contact with St. Croix operations in order to dispatch the appropriate line or water personnel to the emergency. The regular St. Croix emergency number, 773-0150, can still be easily accessed between 7:30 a.m. and 11 p.m., daily.
WAPA is diligently working to resolve the telephone networking issues and appreciates the patience of its customers during this transition period.
