Celebrities to Help Raise Money at UVI Golf Tournament

May 20, 2006 – The second annual Celebrity Golf Classic, a tournament sponsored by Foundation for the University of the Virgin Islands, will be held June 8 to 11 at the Buccaneer Hotel and the Carambola Golf Course and Club House on St. Croix.
More than 20 actors, professional athletes and TV personalities will participate, including golfer Andia Winslow, NBA Atlanta Hawks stars Joe Johnson and Salim Stoudimire, and "That 70s Show" actress and "Charlie's Angel" Tanya Roberts.
The youth clinics are a highlight of the four-day event, according to Joseph B. Boschulte, UVI's vice president for Institutional Advancement, the tournament organizer.
The youth clinics are scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 9 on the UVI grounds. "Clearly we want the youth of St. Croix to take advantage of this opportunity to get playing and life tips from current and former NFL and NBA players," Boschulte said.
Tournament play is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 10 at the Carambola Golf Course and Club House. Individual golfers will team up with celebrities for the golf scramble.
Pre-registration is $115 and onsite registration is $125. Donor partnership packages are also available, from $600 to $15,000.
For more information, to register or to sponsor, call the UVI Office of Institutional Advancement at 693-1040. Registration forms and the complete Celebrity Golf Classic packages are available on the UVI Web site www.uvi.edu.
