ALL SAINTS JUNIOR WINS NATIONAL RECOGNITION

May 27, 2002 – James Hodge, a 16-year-old completing his junior year at All Saints Cathedral School, has been named a National Award Winner in Foreign Language by the United States Achievement Academy.
"The foreign language I won the award for is French," James said, noting that his French teacher at All Saints, Rosalie Javois, nominated him for the honor.
Javois described James, the son of Yvonne and Joseph E. Hodge Sr. of St. Thomas, as "a straight-A French student" and offered this assessment: "His steadfastness with his studies in general will be cause for us to hear a lot more great things about him in years to come."
The USAA selects award winners based upon the recommendation of qualified sponsors in accordance with its standards of selection, a press release stated. The criteria for selection are "a student's academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability, and recommendation from a teacher or director."
So far, James says, he's contemplating a major in computer engineering, law or education. "I am not sure as to which college I would like to go," he adds.
James will be included in the 2002 USAA Official Yearbook. For more information about the U.S. Achievement Academy, visit the USAA web site.
