With profound sadness and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Roseclare Josiah, who departed this life on June 21, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on Aug. 23, 1952, Roseclare was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her.
Roseclare was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Cahona McCoy and Kenneth Murray, and her brothers, Claude Murray and Alexander Murray.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved husband, Alfred Josiah; her daughters, Sherina Merchant, Khoren Murray, and Donnell Herbert; and her sons, Wesley Matthias, Vaughn Burleigh, Glenroy Stevens, and Iwanya Herbert.
She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Hezelroy Barnes; her sisters, Monica Murray, Francine Barnes, Desiree Barnes, and Carmen Murray Simon; her son-in-law, Andrew Merchant; and her sister-in-law, Irma Barnes.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Sheniqua, Shaniqua, Shamicha, Shantel, Judda, A’jahni, Jahoah, Wesley Matthias, Kyra, Jabari Burleigh, Oclera Turbe, A’hijah, A’jahnai, A’jahnae Merchant, and Jaimele Roebuck. She was a proud and devoted great-grandmother to Nadeem Dowdye, Dennis Matthias, Alayna Nieves, and Carlos Nieves.
She also leaves to mourn a host of nieces and nephews, including Sarah Romain, Terasea Murray, Temikah George, Cattrice Browne, Adia Barnes, Hele Barnes, Claire Simon, Tamara Simon, Suran Simon, Jahi, Manu, Kito, Zaid Barnes, Heston Browne, and Jesrun Barnes. She was also deeply loved by her great-nieces Joshirah Hodge, Nekalah Murray, Denaysia Samuel, Tyanna Kelly, and her great-nephews Zahir Brown-Wyre, Zamair Browne-Wyre, Ethan Browne, Niah Robert Jr., Kenroy Florence Jr., K’nai Florence, Isaiah Hodge, Deonte Sonson, Orlando Simon, and Azir Simon.
She will also be fondly remembered by her many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and special friends, all too numerous to mention, whose love and support enriched her life.
A Family Viewing will be held on Monday, July 20, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Divine Chapel, #129 Peter’s Rest, Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands 00820.
A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, at Frederiksted Moravian Church, P47C+93J, Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands 00840. The viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and service begins at 10:00 a.m.
