The V.I. Department of Health (VIDOH) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 18, will be partnering with the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center. It will be distributing a limited supply of insulin to the uninsured and under-insured on St. Croix in the lobby of the hospital.

Patients are asked to bring his/her medicine bottle or prescription and a picture ID. The types of insulin that will be offered include Humalog, Humulin 70/30, Humulin R and Humulin N.

Flu season is here again; free flu and tetanus shots will also be offered at the same location to everyone age 3 and older.  Parental consent is required for anyone under the age of 18. Seasonal flu vaccines are designed to protect against infection and illness caused by the three or four influenza viruses.

Get a tetanus booster shot after certain injuries. Usually, bacterial toxins enter the body through a break in the skin caused by an object contaminated with tetanus. For example, wounds, skin burns, crush injuries, etc. Individuals 11 years old and older can receive the   vaccination. Parental consent is required for anyone under the age of 18.
