Office of Veterans Affairs Announces Limited Service Hours

As a result of a few staff persons retiring at the end of December on St. Croix, reduced hours of operation will temporarily be in effect on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the district’s offices until new staff has been hired, according to a press release issued Sunday by the Office of Veterans Affairs.
Acting Director Harry Daniel said, “The resignations on St. Croix necessitate that additional staff from our St. Thomas office be brought in to help manage the customer service requests from the community. As a result, a few members of our St. Thomas staff will fly to St. Croix on a weekly basis to provide the needed support, and in order to ensure ongoing and efficient operations.”
According to Daniel, the Office of Veterans Affairs is “currently in the process of hiring individuals to replace those who retired in December and anticipate quickly interviewing and hiring replacements. Our goal is to re-staff these positions before Feb. 1 and as soon as possible.”
Individuals who are interested in applying should contact the Division of Personnel in the Croix District at 773-0341 or stop by their office.
Daniel also assures veterans and the entire community to feel comfortable in calling both district offices anytime from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. “Persons who require assistance or who seek information should call our offices in both districts. The phones will be answered.”
Effective Tuesday, Jan. 22, the St. Croix office schedule will be as follows:
Tuesday, January 22: 8 a.m. to 5 a.m.
Wednesday, January 23: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday, January 24: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday, January 25: 8 a.m. to 5 a.m.
*Thereafter, the St. Croix office will open only on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until additional staff has been hired.
The Office of Veterans Affairs apologizes for the temporary disruption and thanks the public for its patience during this period of transition.
