Trudie Prior has been elected as the new Chairman of the Board of the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association. Prior replaces Marc Langevin, the Ritz-Carlton’s general manager, who has accepted a position at a sister property.
“I am honored to have been elected the chair of the board of the Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association to complete the term of Marc Langevin although I very much regret his departure,” said Prior. “Marc has inspired us all to work harder and to be more disciplined in our efforts as an organization on behalf of tourism in the Virgin Islands. Under his leadership, we have become stronger advocates for improvements to our tourism product and to the quality of life here, especially in the areas of crime and education. I will do my best to continue in his footsteps.”
Prior, a long-time member of the board, brings a wealth of experience to the table. Since 1997, she has been the president and general manager of Coral World Ocean Park. She holds a jurist doctor degree from American University and had practiced law before beginning her work with Coral World. Additionally, she is actively involved in numerous community organizations including the Hebrew Congregation and the Community Foundation, and has lent her time and talent to many other non-profits.
"It was my privilege to serve as chairman of the HTA Board and I know that Mrs. Prior will do an excellent job in this position,” said Marc Langevin. “I am pleased at what was accomplished during my tenure and am confident that the association will continue to proactively act on behalf of the membership and the community."
Prior is married to Neil Prior, chairman of Atlantic Tele-Network Inc. She has two daughters from a previous marriage and four grandchildren.
