A 35-year-old St. Croix woman told police that three masked men dressed in black grabbed her, forced her into her home in Estate St. John, tied her up, hit her in the head with a weapon and forced her to give them money, the Police Department said in press release issued Friday. The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the press release, the suspects took her laptop, about $500 dollars in cash and her car keys. They left the area in the victim’s silver Rav4. It was found by police officers in Estate Williams Delight, but had been burned.

The victim told police that when she arrived home, her dogs were barking. She went around the side of the house to see what was causing the dogs to bark and was then grabbed by the suspects.

Police Department spokesman Melody Rames said the woman initially encountered three suspects but a fourth one followed them into the house.

The victim was taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center, treated and released.

This case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
