Gunmen Rob Grove Place Bar

The Cozy Corner Bar in Grove Place was robbed Friday evening by at least five armed suspects dressed in black who took cash and personal effects from several people at the bar, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police interviewed at least seven people who were in or near the establishment at around 7:30 p.m., when the robbery occurred. The witnesses said they saw five masked and armed men emerge from a bushy area near the eastern side of the bar. At least one suspect ransacked the bar and others demanded money from people in the area.

The suspects fired several shots into the air while at the bar and fled the area on foot in the direction of the Lorraine Village Apartments. At least $500 was taken during the robbery.

One victim ran from the robbery and sprained his foot and another said he was hit on the head with a gun by one of the suspects. No other injuries were reported.

Police are asking the community’s help to identify the suspects in this robbery and also to identify anyone who has illegal weapons in their possession.
