Wednesday night in the Elmo Plaskett East Little League, there were contests at both D.C. Canegata ball fields. The Dodgers doubled up the Rangers, 12-6, in the age 10-12 division matchup, which was played on the softball field, and the Yankees blanked the Cobras, 10-0, in the 16-18 division contest on the baseball field.
Dodgers 10, Rangers 6
C’korey Wilson allowed just one hit in pitching the Dodgers to a 12-6 thrashing of the Rangers in Wednesday’s 10-12 division little league action. His defense, however, allowed the Rangers to plate six unearned runs on five errors to make the game a lot closer than it should have been.
It was the Dodgers with 10 runs on eight hits and three errors, while rangers scored six runs on one hit and five errors. Top batters for the winners were Steve Ventura (3 for 4 with three RBIs) and Mackeel Rodgers, Jr. (1 for 2). For the Rangers, Marcelino Rivera was 1 for 3.
Yankees 10, Cobras 0
The Yankees showed why they are the preseason favorite to take the Elmo Plaskett Little League 16-18 division by thumping the Cobras, 10-2, on opening night. Ajani Dowdy allowed just two hits in picking up the victory on the mound for the Yankees.
It was the Yankees with 10 runs on 11 hits, while the cobras had two hits and four errors. Top batters for the Yanks were Romani Hansen (3 for 3 with one RBI), Stephan Walwyn (2 for 3 with three RBIs) and Lakish Plante (2 for 3).
