Nuff Experience, Grey Goose Are Sunday’s Bush League Winners

There were two games played in Bush League softball action this week, one each in the male and female divisions. In the female division veteran hurler Sherry Simmonds pitched a four-hitter in leading Nuff Experience to a 7-5 victory over Tek-it-Ez, and Grey Goose outlasted the Hummers, 15-10, in a men’s division slugfest.

Nuff Experience 7, Tek-it-Ez 5

Nuff Experience and Tek-it-Ez committed six errors apiece in a sloppily played game, but the difference was the pitching. Simmonds guided her team to victory despite the defensive woes.

It was Nuff Experience with seven runs on five hits and six errors, while Tek-it-Ez finished with five runs on four hits and six errors.

Top batters for the winners were Dinaja Dowdy (2 for 2 with two RBIs), and Simmonds (1 for 2 with one RBI).

Karima Santana got the loss on the mound for Tek-it-Ez, whose Shay Roberts went 1 for 2 with one RBI and Daja Liburd and Tiara Newton were both 1 for 2.

Grey Goose 15, Hummers 10

In the men’s contest, Grey Goose exploded for 18 hits to overpower a ready-but-outclassed Hummers squad. It was Grey Goose with 15 runs on 18 hits and two errors, while the Hummers finished with 10 runs on 12 hits and two errors.

The winning pitcher was Warren Brooks and Roman Cruz got the loss.

Top batters for Grey Goose were Steve Simmonds (2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs), Dushane Browne (3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs) and Khalief Gerard (2 for 4 with two RBIs).

For the Hummers, Richard Blake was 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, Sylvester Blake was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Colin King was 2 for 4.
