St. Thomas All-Stars Sweep Little League Baseball on St. Croix

The St. Thomas 13-14 and 15-16 Little League Baseball All-Stars both won their respective best-of-three games tournaments over the weekend at the D.C. Canegata ballpark. The 13-14 squad swept their series, 2-0, while the older boys won their series two games to one.

In the 13-14 division, the St. Thomas boys whitewashed Cruzan, 2-0, as they won 11-6 and 10-6 in respective games. In the series clincher, St. Thomas finished with 10 runs on 13 hits and three errors while St. Croix had six runs on six hits and two errors.

Aaron Shelford got the win on the hill for St. Thomas. Top batters for the winners were Eugene Farrel (2 for 3 with two RBI), Gweshaughn Richards (3 for 4 with one RBI) and Delani Wilson (2 for 3).

On opening night the St. Croix 15-16 boys gave the hometown fans plenty to cheer for when they were able to outlast the St. Thomians, 10-6. However there was not much to celebrate later because St. Thomas went on to win the next game, 8-4, to tie the series at one game each.

It set the stage for a thrilling game three but St. Thomas had it wrapped up from the get-go. When the dust cleared it was a thumping , 24-9, And St. Thomas took the series 2-1.

Aseah Thomas got the series clinching victory on the mound for St. Thomas. Top batters for winners were Jed Joseph (3 for 3), Jared Hanley (2 for 3 with two RBIs) and Shaquan Webster (2 for 4 with one RBI). For St. Croix Lakishe Plante was 2 for 4.
