The Ronald Charles Basketball Association, after giving way to the CHS JV Basketball tournament on Friday and Saturday, was back in action Sunday afternoon in the Ronald Charles Basketball Arena on the Central High campus.
Sunday’s game featured the Hoyas, one of the league’s elite teams, clipping the Hawks’ wings 50-29 in a blowout.
This game was probably over in the first quarter when the Hoyas, with 10 points from star player Jaheem Lee, jumped out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the period.
The Hawks played better in the second period, but that was mostly against the Hoyas bench. They were still outscored 10-8 and trailed 27-14 heading into the locker room at the half.
Coach Sammie Lee called off the dogs in the third quarter, and his bench played for most of the second half against the overmatch Hawks.
An 11-6 third and 12-9 fourth quarters by the Hoyas closed the deal on the Hawks with the Hoyas winning by a final score of 50-29.
Lee led all scorers with a game-high 19 points for the Hoyas and teammate Liz Angel Robles netted 10. The Hawks were led with 13 points from Kareem Xavier. Two other players finished with five points apiece for the Hawks.
