Offense was the name of the game Tuesday night in the Bob Owens Slow pitch softball league as 90 runs were scored in the two games played at D.C. Canegata Ball Park. After the Seaborne Stealers won the first scheduled game by forfeit over the Cartel, league-leading Softball Inc outslugged the Warrior 30-19 in game two, and the National Guard Hummers edged Anchor Dive 21-20 in the nightcap.
Softball Inc 30, Warriors 19
Softball Inc. are looking like world-beaters as they continued their stellar play with yet another victory, further cementing their position atop the league standings. Tuesday’s victim, the Warriors, put up a gallant fight in putting 19 runs on the board, but the league’s hottest team was 11 runs better in coming away with the 30-19 victory. It was Softball Inc with 30 runs on 28 hits and three errors, while the Warriors finished with 19 runs on 17 hits and two errors. Cody St. Pierre got the win on the hill for Softball Inc, and Luis Alexander got the loss. Top batters for the winners were Tony Cruz (3 for 3 with three home runs and 11 RBIs) and Adam Harris (2 for 3 with two home runs and six RBIs). For the Warriors, Alexander was 2 for 2 with two home runs and five RBIs, and Juan Santana was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Hummers 21, Anchor Dive 20
The National Guard Hummers, another team that has been on the rise of late, outslugged Anchor Dive 21-20 in the night’s finale. The Hummers riding a four-game winning streak, finished with 21 runs on 18 hits while committing three errors. Anchor Dive was right there with 20 runs on 12 hits and four errors. The winning pitcher was Roman Cruz, and Edwin Sankitts got the loss for Anchor Dive. Offensively the Hummers were led by Kai Schjang (4 for 4 with three home runs and seven RBIs) and Mario Christian (4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs). For Anchor Dive, Aldemar Santos was 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Julio Carmona was 3 for 3 with two RBIs.
