One Minor Dead, One Wounded in Frederiksted Shooting

Two 17-year-old males were shot on Frederiksted’s Ann E. Abramson Pier on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m., leaving one dead and one wounded, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police are investigating the possibility that the deceased and the wounded victim may have been suspects in a robbery that was reported from the same area that night.

Police found one victim unresponsive on the ground near the entrance to the pier. He was taken to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and pronounced dead about 9:30 p.m. by doctors.

The second shooting victim was apprehended by police officers several blocks away. He also received medical treatment.

Major Crime Unit detectives are actively investigating this case. Anyone with any information about the shooting or the circumstances surrounding the shooting is urged to contact detectives at 712-6037, 712-6077 or you can call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
