Sept. 11 Remembrance: Flags at Half-Staff

Gov. John deJongh Jr. directed that U.S. and V.I. flags on all public buildings be displayed at half-staff Tuesday, in remembrance of the men, women and children killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, in Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon.

In a statement released from Government House on Monday, the governor cited President Barack Obama’s proclamation of Tuesday as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, 2012.

DeJongh said the proclamation by President Obama “observes the 11th anniversary of the worst attack on the American people in our history.”

“Consistent with the presidential proclamation, I have directed that both the U.S. and Virgin Islands flags on all public buildings in the Virgin Islands be flown at half-staff on Tuesday,” deJongh said.
