The scrap metal area at the Anguilla Landfill will re-open at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 16, according to a press release issued Friday by the V.I. Waste Management Authority.
A fire occurred in the scrap metal area located south of the Anguilla Landfill in late June, causing the closure of the area. The fire did not affect the solid waste section or any other area of the landfill.
The scrap metal area will be opened the same hours as the Anguilla Landfill 6 a.m.to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.
The authority apologizes for any inconvenience that the closure of the scrap metal area may have caused as the area was under investigation by V.I. Fire Services to determine the official cause of the fire.
