June 12, 2009 – I am personally very proud to have a governor who didn’t embarrass the people of the Virgin Islands by passing along the severely flawed draft constitution hammered out in the carnival atmosphere created by a small group of die-hard disrupters.
It’s bad enough that those in Washington who are even aware of our existence recognize us as the silly step child that can’t use up federal funds, has a murder rate four times higher than Mexico, lives steeped in corruption and puts partying and holidays ahead of fiscal responsibility and the general welfare of its citizenry – an image the current administration is working hard to change.
The document passed to our governor flouts constitutional law while encouraging discrimination and pettiness. It is the natural outgrowth of the above mentioned philosophical bent.
Whatever the few disgruntled die-hards do to further waste time and money on this unfortunate pistarckle we can only hope will be quickly nipped in the bud.
With hundreds of millions in revenue shortfalls and crime swinging out of control, our public officials do not need to take up the cause of a few loudmouths who care nothing for the good of the entire community, but who simply don’t want to stop the Carnival.
