Bassin Fine Art presents the opening of “Every’ting Crucian” by Rasa Glengary, from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. The exhibit is an extension of her passion for animals, the flora of the Caribbean as well as unique portraitures.  This exceptional show of her watercolors will run through March 8. There will be another reception for the show from 5-8 p.m. on Art Thursday Feb. 16.
Glengary is a painter who works in watercolor. Originally a ceramicist, she received her degree in fine arts from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and taught ceramics there. At the time, many of her mentors and professors were involved with the “Cass Corridor Movement,” and she feels very fortunate to have studied with some of the preeminent Detroit artists of the time.  She began painting in 2002.  Along with ceramics, she studied medical illustration at Wayne State University and feels that her photorealistic style and saturated color palette stems from this training.  She has exhibited in many exhibitions on St. Croix, including the Good Hope Annual Exhibition and Benefit and the St. George Botanical Garden Flower and Fine Art Festival.  She has also exhibited in the states and her work is included in numerous private collections.  
“I feel there is a moment captured in a photograph that is intriguing and enigmatic. Of my portraits someone always asks ‘What are they thinking?’ Painting a frozen thought, a moment captured in time, is
what gratifies me as an artist.
