ZemiZen will open an art exhibition and present a cultural lecture at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at the Whim Plantation Museum. Artist Cindy Male offers insight into both the Zen art tradition and the Taino art tradition with the fusion of both cultures in an eight piece silk noil fabric installation. Several other wall pieces and three kimonos will be part of the showing as well. One of the kimonos is a highly embroidered ‘wedding kimono.’ The exhibit is labeled and informative, making it a great venue for student field trips. The exhibit is free of charge and will remain up through April 18.
