The Reichhold Center for the Arts Gallery presents the photography exhibit “Haiti After the Earthquake” by Ailene Yasmin Torres. Torres, a reporter for the Virgin Islands Daily News, compiled her exhibit based on photographs taken during her recent trip to Haiti to report on the devastating earthquake. The exhibit will be on display during the March 13th Steel Pulse show and will continue through March 31.
Torres spent two weeks in Port –au-Prince reporting on the aftermath of the quake and the work of U.S.V.I. volunteers. Many of the photographs depict the structural damage of the earthquake, while others show the attempt to resume a normal life in Haiti, from school children playing soccer to families together in makeshift tents. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the Steel Pulse and Black Violin performances, concert goers may visit the gallery between 7 and 8 p.m., and during intermission.
