Registration for the spring semester vocational program at the Virgin Islands Career & Technical Institute at the Raphael Wheatley Skill Center begins on Tuesday, Jan. 18from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Classes begin on Monday, Feb. 7. The schedule is as follows:
V.I. Career and Technical Institute Holding Spring Registration
Day Classes: 8:10 a.m. – 3:10 p.m.
Carpentry, Automotive Mechanic/Auto Body Repair, Culinary Arts, Drafting, Personal Care Services (Cosmetology) and Computer Applications
Tuition: $175
Evening Classes: 5:30—8:30 p.m.
Personal Care Services (Cosmetology) and Computer Applications
Tuition: $175
Allied Health Courses:
Clinical Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, and Phlebotomy (Open only to returning students).
Tuition: $225
**Last day to register is Feb. 11.
Jewelry Design/Manufacturing and Gemology (in collaboration with Caribbean Islands Education Foundation Inc.) — Schedule TBA (to be announced)
Tuition: $2,638 Section I (Two-year program comprised of four phases)
Gemology Studies (in collaboration with Caribbean Islands Education Foundation Inc.) – Schedule TBA
Tuition: $1,123
Note: Textbooks are not included in tuition.
Participating students are required to meet the following requirements:
1. Complete an enrollment form.
2. Provide a copy of a valid ID with a recent picture (passport, driver’s license, etc.)
3. Money order/bank draft made out to the Government of the Virgin Islands in the amount of the tuition.
4. Proof of medical insurance (copy of insurance card) or money order/bank draft made out to the Government of the Virgin Islands in the amount of $15.
5. Participant’s coming through Department of Labor, Department of Human Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, or Veterans’ Affairs must bring the official required documentation from the referring agency.
6. Be 18 years of age or older and have obtained a high school diploma or working towards obtaining a GED*.
* Students must be enrolled simultaneously in the GED program and must be assessed using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), and score above a 9th grade level to be allowed in any of the vocational programs. Students must attend GED classes regularly and work towards obtaining their GED diploma for the duration of the programs of study chosen.
Allied Health Studies
1. Be 18 years of age or older and obtained a diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
2. Official copy of transcript or copy of GED diploma
No participant will be allowed to begin classes until all the above requirements have been met.
