PUPPET WORKSHOPS BEING HELD AT BAA LIBRARY

Storyteller Elaine Jacobs and puppetmaker Dorothy Hassfeld are conducting free puppet workshops for 5th and 6th graders on Wednesday and Friday mornings over the next three weeks at the Enid M. Baa Library.

Kernita David, 1999 graduate of St. Joseph High School, has been awarded a scholarship from the V.I. National Guard Enlisted Association. She's a senior at Marshall University and plans to continue into medical studies.

15 JOIN RANKS OF ST. CROIX LAW ENFORCEMENT

At the Government House swearing-in of 15 law-enforcement officers on St. Croix, the president of the rookie class said residents can be assured that the new officers patrolling their streets and serving their communities "will be dreaming the law, living the law and respecting the law."

The Government Employees' Retirement System invites members over 30 years of age to participate in a Pre-retirement Workshop from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the GERS Conference Room, third floor, GERS Building.
