SENATORS IGNORE PETITION FOR PSC MEETING

Not one senator other than the author, Adlah "Foncie" Donastorg, signed the petition that Donastorg circulated this week calling for a Committee of the Whole meeting to review the practices of the Public Services Commission. (See related editorial under Commentary/Editorials.)

NEW CONTRACTOR AT DUMP AFTER S & S WALKOUT

S & S Services Corp. employees at the Bovoni landfill walked off the job at 6 p.m. Tuesday and did not return to work Wednesday morning -- an action that has taken place before. By 11:30 a.m. Wednesday the S & S employees had been replaced by five workers from Alvin Williams Corp.

SENATORS OK FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATIONS

The Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday approved federal grant applications totaling about $1.5 million. The grants seek financial
help in the areas of domestic violence, victim assistance, juvenile justice and delinquency and historic preservation.
