BVI Native Desreta Jackson Chosen as Keynote Speaker for St. Clair Institute Gala Saturday

British Virgin Islands native and well-known actress for her groundbreaking role of “young Celie” in the 1985 Oscar nominated film, “The Color Purple,” Desreta Jackson has been chosen as the keynote speaker for Saturday's 2nd Annual Fundraising Gala, “Vintage Vogue: A Night of Opulence” for the St. Clair Institute.

It was a delightful Saturday morning, as children and parents alike participated in the Humane Society of St. Thomas’ Easter party. The event, held at the Humane Society's grounds, was complete with arts and crafts, face painting, a mini parade, Easter egg hunt and more.

STIR Marks 50th Anniversary

The St. Thomas International Regatta kicked off Friday with entries from close to 40 boats with crews hailing from the Caribbean, various parts of the United States and Ireland. This marks the 50th anniversary of the event which runs through Sunday.

Students Invited to Celebrate V.I. Heritage and Culture on St. John

On Friday, Feb. 23, St. John schools and homeschoolers and St. Thomas fourth graders are invited to celebrate the rich culture of the Virgin Islands for Black History Month in the National Park playground in Cruz Bay from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 500 students are expected to attend, the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park announced.
