The Magens to Magens Road Race will return Saturday, Feb. 7, with a 10K course beginning and ending at Magens Bay and a Kids 1K Fun Run for children ages 10 and under, according to a press release from race organizers.

The race, commonly known as M2M, starts at 7 a.m. from Shed 4 at Magens Bay. Registration opens at 6 a.m, according to the press release.

The 10K course begins on the left side of Magens Bay, continues toward the Peterborg peninsula, and loops back to the starting point. The route features sustained climbs and descents, making the race a staple for experienced runners and walkers across the territory, the press release stated.

In addition to the main race, a Kids 1K Fun Run will begin at 9:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to run alongside their children, the release stated.

โ€œM2M has always been about encouraging people of all ages to challenge themselves,โ€ said Dr. Brad Kappel, race director since the event began in 2013. โ€œFor adults, this race is every bit as tough and rewarding as the most iconic races in the territory. For kids, crossing that finish line builds confidence and a lifelong appreciation for fitness.โ€

Kappel said the event also serves a broader community purpose.

โ€œHere in the USVI, we face significant health challenges, including childhood obesity, diabetes, and screen addiction,โ€ he said. โ€œInvesting in physical activity, especially events that bring families together, helps build a healthier future for our community.โ€

David Arpasi, athletic director at the Virgin Islands Montessori School and Peter Gruber International Academy, and co-race director, said the event is well regarded among competitive runners and serves as a visible example for young athletes.

โ€œThe M2M Road Race is one of those events that serious runners circle on their calendars,โ€ Arpasi said. โ€œItโ€™s challenging, well-organized, and respected across the running community. At the same time, it creates an opportunity for young athletes to see what commitment and perseverance look like in action.โ€

An awards ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by a beach picnic and celebration, the release stated.

Registration is available online. Entry fees are $40 for adults and $15 for youth ages 1-18. Proceeds benefit the VI Montessori School and Peter Gruber Academy athletic program. Schools and youth groups needing assistance with registration fees are encouraged to contact athleticdirector@vimsia.org.
