V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue To Hold Free Earned Income Tax Credit Seminars

Virgin Islands residents can learn how to maximize their tax refunds at free seminars on the Earned Income Tax Credit, hosted by the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue. The sessions, led by Bureau Director Joel A. Lee, CPA, will provide tax guidance for taxpayers and preparers on the refundable credit available to eligible residents.

The St. Thomas seminar will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at the Department of Planning and Natural Resources conference room in Tutu Park Mall. On St. Croix, the seminar is set for Wednesday, March 26, at the University of the Virgin Islands Great Hall on the Albert Sheen Campus. Both events will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This yearโ€™s seminar will also highlight additional refundable tax credits, including the Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, the Credit for Other Dependents, and the American Opportunity Tax Credit.

Residents who worked in 2024 and earned less than $59,899 may qualify for the EITC, which can result in a refund of up to $7,830 for those with qualifying children. Workers without qualifying children may be eligible for a credit of up to $632.
